Hezbollah launched over 100 rockets early Sunday, hitting a wider and deeper range of northern Israel, with some striking near the city of Haifa. This escalation follows intense Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, pushing both sides closer to all-out war after months of rising tensions. Air raid sirens blared across northern Israel, sending thousands into shelters, as rockets targeted civilian areas. One rocket hit Kiryat Bialik, near Haifa, wounding several people and causing fires.
The rocket barrage came in response to an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on Friday, which killed 45 people, including women, children, and a top Hezbollah commander. Israel’s military retaliated by targeting around 400 Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, thwarting what it said could have been an even larger attack. Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani confirmed that the rocket fire reached deeper into Israel than before, marking a significant escalation in the conflict.
Amid the growing tensions, Israeli hospitals in the north have begun relocating operations to protected areas, and schools across the region remain closed. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching dozens of new Fadi 1 and Fadi 2 missiles at Israel’s Ramat David airbase and other facilities, deepening the confrontation.
As both sides continue to exchange heavy fire, the situation remains volatile, with fears of further escalation looming large.
