G7 Summit Highlights: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a ceremonial reception in Zagreb on Wednesday, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia. He was welcomed by his Croatian counterpart Andrej Plenković, in what is being hailed as a landmark moment for India-Croatia relations. This visit marks the final leg of PM Modi’s three-nation tour, which also included Cyprus and Canada, where he attended the 51st G7 Summit.
During his visit, PM Modi interacted with members of the Indian diaspora at a hotel in Zagreb. Sharing pictures of the meeting on X, he said, “Croatia’s Indian community has contributed to Croatia’s progress and also remained in touch with their roots in India.” He added, “There is immense enthusiasm among the Indian community here about this visit and its impact in making the bond between our nations stronger than ever before.”
In another post, PM Modi shared photos of the ceremonial reception and noted, “A welcome to remember in Zagreb, full of warmth and affection!”
The visit is expected to open new avenues for bilateral cooperation in key sectors of mutual interest. PM Modi is also scheduled to meet the President of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, during his stay.
Highlighting the importance of the visit, officials said it underlines India’s commitment to strengthening ties with members of the European Union. The discussions are likely to touch upon trade, technology, energy, and people-to-people engagement.
Earlier, reflecting on his time in Canada, PM Modi described the G7 Summit in Kananaskis as “productive.” He said the summit saw fruitful discussions on global issues including energy security, sustainability, and infrastructure access. “We remain committed to furthering global peace, prosperity and sustainability,” he said.

Meanwhile the Australian PM already seemed to crossed paths with Canadian PM Mark Carney on Monday. “In an uncertain world what people are looking for is certainty, relationships, trusted relationships, Australia and Canada are just such partners,” he added.

I will invite all G7 partners to join us in this endeavour.”
Although reiterating Israel’s right to defend itself, she noted that a diplomatic solution was the need of the hour.
“Iran is the principal source of regional instability, and we’ve always been very clear, Iran can never have a nuclear weapon,” she added, as per Reuters.
