He further told ANI, “PM Modi is such a Prime Minister who always thinks about Sikhs. All the pending issues of Sikhs, which have not been resolved to date, are being resolved, including the Kartarpur Sahib corridor. There should not be such protests against him, and no Sikh can tolerate this.”
Similarly, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri slammed these demonstrations, saying, “Leave that aside, another video is going viral tomorrow. They (pro Khalistani supporters) staged a dharna from the neighbouring country (Pakistan) where they get funding, but when they did not get the funding, they turned on them. Yeh jo kiraye ke tatto (protestors for hire) hain, don’t take them seriously.”

G7 Summit Live Updates: No need for G7 to exist, says Brazil’s Lula after Canada arrival
When asked to reflect on Donald Trump’s musings about turning the G7 back into the G8 and bringing back Russia (possibly even China) to the organisation, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said there was no reason for the Group of Seven to exist.
“Putin was a member of the G8. I think that the G7, deep down, deep down, there is no need for the G7 to exist. The G20 is more representative,” he told CNN upon arriving at the hotel in Canada.
He added, “I think the G20 is more important, it has more human density, it has more economic density.”
With Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom as part of the G7, Russia was eliminated from the group in March 2014 for annexing Crimea.
“[The G7] has existed since 1975, since the Oil Crisis. It’s the rich cousins who meet. They don’t want to stop meeting, but they’re in the G20,” Lula went on. The Brazilian president himself, though not an official member of the G7 club, has been invited nine time to participate in the summits.
Former Canadian Minister Ujjal Dosanjh also highlighted PM Mark Carney’s intentions to reset the relations between India and Canada.
Addressing India’s significant milestone on becoming the fourth-largest economy in the world this year, he told ANI, “I think at that time India hadn’t graduated to the 4th place, and so [Mark Carney] already saw the importance and significance of the country on the international stage.”
He added, “I think that now that India has moved to the 4th place, that only probably encouraged him more. I think that other partners in the G7 may have spoken to Mr Carney and said India may have some issues with you, but we shouldn’t ignore India in the long run and deal with your issues in the way you can. I mean, that’s how leaders do that sometimes.”

G7 Summit Live Updates: Trump stirs G7 tensions
Leaders of the Group of Seven nations opened their annual summit on Monday against the backdrop of intensifying conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as US President Donald Trump reignited controversy by calling Russia’s expulsion from the former G8 a “big mistake”.
Gathering in Kananaskis, a resort town in the Canadian Rockies, the heads of state from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States and representatives from the European Union are set to meet through Tuesday. The summit comes at a time when global stability is under strain, particularly from the ongoing wars involving Ukraine and the escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran.
Tensions were apparent even before formal discussions began, with a US official confirming that President Trump would not endorse a joint G7 statement urging de-escalation in the Israel-Iran conflict, a move likely to frustrate other leaders seeking a unified call for restraint.
Speaking alongside Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Trump revisited the 2014 decision to remove Russia from what was then the Group of Eight, following Moscow’s annexation of Crimea. “This was a big mistake,” Trump said. “You wouldn’t have that war. You know, you’ve got your enemy at the table. I don’t even consider, he wasn’t really an enemy at that time,” he added.
