Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov has weighed in on recent claims made by conservative commentator Candace Owens, linking them to the late Charlie Kirk. Durov, in a tweet, suggested that Owens’ information about French involvement in Kirk’s death “entirely plausible,” after reviewing everything Kirk has ever said about France.

Telegram co-founder suggests French involvement in Charlie Kirk’s death

Taking to X on Sunday, Durov wrote, “after reviewing everything Charlie Kirk has ever said about Macron’s France, I find Candace’s info about French involvement in his death entirely plausible.”

He mentioned that Kirk had previously called for a 300% tariff on French wine, insisting it should continue until charges against him were dropped. “Charlie even called for 300% tariffs on France until the charges against me were dropped.”

Kirk’s tweet from August read, “President Trump should announce plans for a 300% tariff on French wine unless ALL charges are dropped on Pavel Durov immediately. If Europe is going to imprison CEOs of platforms where free speech thrives, there should be stiff and painful consequences.”

Charlie Kirk, a conservative American political activist, was assassinated on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, United States. Durov’s tweet came just hours after Owens made her explosive claims about the French President.

Candace Owens makes wild claim about Emmanuel Macron

Conservative commentator Candace Owens on Sunday alleged that French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, planned to assassinate her. She said the information came from a “high-ranking employee of the French Government” two days prior, and claimed the Macrons had “executed upon and paid for my assassination.”

“I have deemed the information they gave me to be credible enough to share publicly in the event that something happens,” Owens wrote on X. She added that the attack would have involved France’s elite National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN) and one Israeli operative. Owens also connected the alleged plot to Charlie Kirk’s 2025 assassination, suggesting the suspect trained with France’s 13th Legion Brigade.

While she provided no proof to back that claim, in a series of tweets, Owens warned that French journalist Xavier Poussard, known for reporting on Brigitte Macron, could also be at risk. “This is deadly serious. The head of state of France apparently wants us both dead and has authorised professional units to carry this out,” she wrote.

She urged her followers to make her post go viral, saying she wasn’t sure who in the US government could be trusted to act. “I do not know who in the American government can be trusted, since this source claims our leaders are aware. But I have more specific information which is definitively verifiable, should they care to reach out to me. To the brave official in France who did this because they were so moved by the evil of Charlie’s public execution to risk their own life— May God bless you. Truly,” she continued.

So far, no French, Israeli, or USA authorities have confirmed Owens’ claims. The allegations remain unverified.
