US President Donald Trump continued his diatribe against American musicians on Monday — lashing out at Beyoncé for her endorsement of Kamala Harris in 2024. The remarks came days after he opined that Taylor Swift was “no longer hot” and hours after he claimed that Bruce Springsteen had made “illegal campaign contributions” to his rival during the Presidential elections. The POTUS also claimed that popular TV personality Oprah and Irish singer-songwriter Bono (known to some as the lead vocalist for U2) had ‘a lot of explaining to do’.
“According to news reports, Beyoncé was paid $11,000,000 to walk onto a stage, quickly endorse Kamala, and walk off to loud booing for never having performed, not even one song! Remember, the Democrats and Kamala illegally paid her millions of Dollars for doing nothing other than giving Kamala a full throated endorsement,” the President wrote on Truth Social.
He dubbed it an “an illegal election scam at the highest level” and insisted that the singer had made an illegal campaign contribution. Trump also claimed that “Bruce Springsteen, Oprah, Bono and, perhaps, many others, have a lot of explaining to do”.
The remarks came mere hours after Trump took a similar swipe at Bruce Springsteen and claimed that he was going to call for a “major investigation” into the matter. He had also launched a similar tirade against popstar Taylor Swift last week — claiming that the singer’s popularity has diminished since he publicly expressed disdain for her during the 2024 election season.
“Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for endorsements, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment. In addition, this was a very expensive and desperate effort to artificially build up her sparse crowds. It’s not legal! For these unpatriotic “entertainers,” this was just a corrupt and unlawful way to capitalize on a broken system,” he continued in his latest posts.
