From Sindh province of Pakistan, one of its kind incident of animal cruelty has come to light. A cruel landlord and five of his servants were arrested for chopping off the leg of a camel.
The poor animal’s fault was…it trespassed on his field seeking fodder!
The incident has drawn the attention of top political authorities. Now a prosthetic leg for the animal from Dubai is being arranged.
Rustum Shar and five of his servants were detained. He proudly shared a video clip, holding the mutilated right leg of the camel. The gruesome incident took place in Mund Jamrao village of Sanghar district last weekend.
On social media, the video caused an outcry. Animal rights organisations and the public demanded the government take action against the landlord.
The owner of the camel, peasant Soomar Behan did not report the matter to the cops. He was contacted by authorities after the matter came to light.
The animal was immediately moved to the Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS) shelter in Karachi, said Secretary Livestock Kazim Jato, following his visit to the shelter at the instructions of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
“A prosthetic leg has been ordered from Dubai for the camel,” Jato added.
