Several reports have confirmed a 24-year-old Pakistani national Naveed Akram as one of the suspected attackers.
Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said officers have ruled out the involvement of any other suspects, confirming that the shooting involved only two people. He identified them as a 50-year-old man and his 24-year-old son, adding that the older man was declared dead at the scene, while his son is receiving treatment in hospital and remains in a critical condition.

A CNN report, citing police, confirmed the father-son duo responsible was already on Australia’s intelligence radar. The 50-year-old father was shot and killed at the scene by police, while his 24-year-old son remains in critical but stable condition in hospital. Authorities also seized six firearms owned by the father, who had held a license for about 10 years.
Shocking and distressing: Australian PM on Bondi shooting
Australian PM Anthony Albanese reacted to the mass shooting at Bondi Beach and called the scenes “shocking and distressing” noting that police and emergency responders were on the ground working to save lives, Reuters reported.
He said his thoughts were with everyone affected and confirmed that he had spoken with the New South Wales premier. He added that authorities were working closely with NSW Police and would provide further updates as more information was confirmed, urging people in the area to follow advice from NSW Police.

NSW Health says 27 people remain in hospital across Sydney following the Bondi Beach shooting, as of 5 pm today.
Patients are being treated at multiple hospitals, with a mix of critical, critical but stable, and stable conditions.
Several patients remain in critical care at St Vincent’s Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, while others are stable at facilities including Prince of Wales Hospital, St George Hospital, Sydney Eye Hospital, Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick, Royal North Shore Hospital, and Liverpool Hospital.

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said the government is providing rapid assistance to families of those killed in the Bondi Beach shooting, including those with relatives overseas.
