New York-based firm Astronomer’s latest move proves that operations will continue unscathed despite its CEO Andy Byron and HR Head Kristin Cabot alleged workplace affair being unwittingly exposed at a Coldplay concert. The company has already named its CEO replacement and kicked off an investigation in connection with the video of the unlikely canoodling each other having gone viral this week.
Ever since Byron and Cabot were caught on camera, with their embarrassing Boston concert moment being plastered on the jumbotron, rumours about the pair cheating on their respective married partners are all anyone over the Internet wants to talk about.
In a calculated attempt to dust the kiss cam scandal off its back, the executives’ company put them on an immediate leave, as per an Axios report. Consequently, Astronomer’s Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has been announced the interim CEO of the US technology solutions company.
Who is Pete DeJoy?
The lead Astronomer executive is based in Brooklyn, New York, according to his LinkedIn profile. He’s been linked to the company for eight years now, taking on the CPO post full-time from February 2025 onwards. Prior to that, he was responsible for the global product portfolio, leading a team of incredibly talented product people as the SVP of the Products department.

He sat in that chair for nearly two years, beginning May 2023, before which he served as the vice president of the same team. DeJoy’s journey with the company essentially began with the Product line. He’s been listed as a member of the co-founding team since August 2017.
Back in November 2016, he was a Fellow associated with Venture for America, a US nonprofit organisation and fellowship founded by Andrew Yang in Detroit.
As far as his education qualifications go, Pete DeJoy holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Physics from Bowdoin College, a liberal arts college on the coast of Maine.
