A video of a mansion “decorated with gold” in Indore went viral on Instagram and clocked over 10 million views. It was then reshared on other platforms as well and is now all over social media. The house belongs to a government contractor, Anoop Agarwal, who openly admitted to “entering government contractorship” after he realised that the income from one petrol pump is not enough for 25 members.
The house is not only getting attention for gold-plated interiors and luxury cars, but also where taxpayer money is going. Content creator Priyam Saraswat, who gave a tour of his houses, has deleted the video from his Instagram page amid social media scrutiny.
What does the viral video show?
The now-viral video opens to show Saraswat entering the house after receiving permission from the owners. One of the first things shown is a gaushala (cow shelter) built within the house premises. As the tour continues, Saraswat is shown a luxury car collection, including a rare 1936 vintage Mercedes.
“I try that whenever a new car is launched in Indore, I buy it,” Agarwal told Saraswat.
The video then takes one through the lush green garden before all of them enter the house, where the true extravagance begins. The house glistens with 24-carat gold, and the camera pans to show the walls and ceilings that have gold work on them. Even the switches inside the house have gold plating.
Agarwal then shows him the main living space, which looks nothing short of a movie set in terms of grandeur. He then reveals that the house has 10 bedrooms, one of which Saraswat explores during the video. The house also has golden statues and a fountain in the dining area.
Towards the end of the video, Saraswat asked him to share his journey: “We had just one petrol pump for a family of 25. I realised survival will be tough… so I entered government contractorship,” Agarwal said.
He added, “We make roads, bridges, and buildings for the government. We are making a 300-room hotel now. That’s my growth journey.”

‘Why are our bridges, highways collapsing?’
Congress’ Kerala unit reshared the video on X (formerly known as Twitter), and said that this is why the bridges and highways in the country are collapsing, pointing out how the government lent money is apparently being diverted to build personal wealth.
“Why are our highways collapsing, bridges falling into the river?” wrote Kerala Congress.
It added, “Find the answers here. The Govt contractor from Indore has built a house where taps and switches are made of gold. He has ED proofed himself by building a Gau Shala in his house.”
The official handle of Congress Kerala further said, “People who wanted to ED to raid the Pani puri wala who earned 40 lakhs by working hard wouldn’t want the ED to visit this gentleman’s house.”
‘Gaushala is to avoid ED raids’
Some on social media even said that he has built a gaushala to avoid ED raids. “Gaushala is to avoid ED raids,” read one comment.
Another reacted, “He’s a Govt Contractor in Madhya Pradesh. He built a Luxurious Bungalow where OG 24-carat Gold was used for decoration. He was from a humble background initially. And he has done no corruption. How to Believe? He has a Gaushala in his Bungalow.”
Income Tax Department, are you listening?
One individual tagged the Income Tax department on X and wrote, “I hope you guys have checked this guy’s IT returns.”
“Please dig into this guy before harassing ordinary people,” said another.
A third commented, “Now I know where my tax money is going?”
“The extent of corruption in Madhya Pradesh is so huge that I was shocked to see the kinds of palaces built in Bhopal and Indore. A friend whose father is a retired IAS, brother a govt contractor and uncle a sitting HC judge built a home with F helipad, swimming pools and whatnot,” said yet another social media user.
