King Charles entered the Westminster Abbey to the tune of popular Bollywood song Dhoom Machale during the Commonwealth Day Service earlier this month. Videos of the event have since gone viral with many social media users expressing disbelief about the cross-over.
The short clip shared online showed King Charles and Queen Camilla walking into Westminster Abbey as the Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band played the song in the background. Details shared on the group’s website indicate that they had played ‘a blend of traditional Scottish and Indian melodies’ to welcome the Royals.
“Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band London were honoured to perform at the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey in the esteemed presence of Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camilla. A truly unforgettable moment celebrating unity, heritage, and culture, and follows a long list of performances by the band in front of royalty,” the group wrote on Instagram while sharing the clip.
The post has since garnered tens of thousands of votes and likes while others expressed disbelief about the song choice. Many social media users were also reminded of Dhoom 2 (the second film in the franchise) where actor Hrithik Roshan pulls off a daring heist while disguised as Queen Elizabeth.
“That’s clearly Hrithik Roshan disguised as Camilla,” joked one user.
“Leaked footage from Dhoom 4,” wrote another.
“Now waiting for the Kohinoor to be stolen in Dhoom style,” laughed a third.
“Who all were waiting for Hrithik to come out in the video?” a fourth wanted to know.
Many in the comment section however remained convinced that the video was an elaborate fabrication. Several Instagram users wrote bewildered messages wondering whether the clip had been edited with the iconic Dhoom tune. The video had been included in the BBC coverage of the Commonwealth Day Service in early March but flew under the radar until the band posted its recent update.
