Anupam Mittal, the founder and CEO of People Group, well-known for his successful venture Shaadi.com, recently shared valuable insights with his LinkedIn followers on the essential skills students and professionals should cultivate to succeed as entrepreneurs.

Linkedin Post by Anupam Mittal

In his post, Mittal emphasised that while there is no singular formula for success, two core abilities stand out for anyone looking to embark on an entrepreneurial journey.

Two Super Powers

The first, he says, is the ability to sell—not just products, but ideas, visions, and dreams. He highlights the importance of convincing investors to fund your ventures, customers to try your product, and even yourself to keep pushing forward, especially during challenging times. “If you can’t sell, it’s going to be a long and lonely ride,” he warned, encouraging readers to pitch, persuade, hustle, and repeat.

The second superpower, according to Mittal, is the ability to build. He stresses that building isn’t just about coding—it’s about being obsessed with solving a problem, staying focused on your vision even when others may doubt you, and pushing through despite setbacks. “It’s being okay with being misunderstood,” he explained. “You master these two? You become unbeatable.”

Mittal’s message wasn’t just for aspiring founders. He urged students and professionals to recognise that these skills are crucial life skills, not limited to job titles or entrepreneurial roles. He believes that mastering the art of selling and building can unlock doors in any career, whether in a startup, a corporate job, or even a side hustle.

Wrapping up his post, Mittal encouraged everyone to start learning, selling, and building now, as there is no “right time” to begin. With this mindset, he believes success will follow.
