In a heart-stopping incident, a two-year-old child survived a fall from the 13th floor of a high-rise in Dombivli, Thane, all due to the quick thinking and swift actions of a passerby. A video capturing the dramatic rescue has gone viral on social media, earning widespread admiration for the man, who is being hailed as a real-life hero.
The incident occurred last week in the Devichapada area. Miraculously, the child sustained only minor injuries, according to officials.
The video shows Bhavesh Mhatre, the passerby, rushing to catch the falling child. Although he couldn’t fully catch her, his quick action broke the fall and significantly reduced the impact when she hit the ground.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the child was playing on the balcony of her 13th-floor flat when she slipped. “She was hanging at the edge of the balcony for a while before she fell,” one eyewitness recounted.
Recalling the moment, Bhavesh Mhatre said he was walking past the building when he noticed the precarious situation. Without hesitation, he rushed to help, determined to save the child. “There is no religion greater than courage and humanity,” he told reporters, reflecting on his selfless act.
A civic official praised Mhatre’s bravery, stating that plans are underway to honor him publicly for his courageous efforts.
The incident has sparked conversations about the importance of balcony safety in high-rise buildings, especially for families with young children. While the child’s survival is nothing short of a miracle, the community has applauded Bhavesh Mhatre for his quick thinking and humanity that turned what could have been a tragedy into a story of hope and heroism.
