Finance Ministry official, Navjot Singh’s father, while speaking to the media, said that his son, who was killed in a BMW crash, was “intentionally” taken to the “worst nursing home”. Singh visited Gurdwara Bangla Sahib with his wife and was returning home from Karnataka Bhavan, where they stopped to eat, when the incident happened.
‘Intentionally taken to worst nursing home’
“The accident happened at Dhaula Kuan, where the nearest hospitals, including Army R&R Hospital and RML Hospital, are very close. But instead of taking them there, they intentionally took them elsewhere. We later learned from a neighbour that the in-laws of the driver live nearby. Neulife Hospitals, where they took him, is the worst nursing home,” he told reporters.
He added, “They are very manipulative people and have no facilities. We went there and saw that the hospital had zero proper facilities.”
His father further expressed that whenever someone is injured in an accident, they should be taken to the nearest hospital. “In this case, they were taken to the farthest one. This shows their malafide intent.”
Navnoor, son of the Finance Ministry bureaucrat, also said that his father could have been saved if taken to a nearby hospital, rather than travelling 17 km away. Gaganpreet and her husband took the couple to Neulife Hospitals. They were with their two children at the time of the incident.
Singh said that both the husband and wife got themselves to the hospital and made excuses that they had high blood pressure. “Whatever reasons they made, I don’t know what the police did there,” the grieving father went on to express.
‘He was an intelligent boy’
“This is all a tragedy,” he said, before expressing, “He was a very intelligent boy.”
Singh stood first in BSc Honours and completed his MSc on a national scholarship. He was then selected in the Government of India’s staff selection commission and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Secretary in the Finance Ministry.
‘My wife and I waved goodbye to him’
His father said that he went to Shillong for four days of field training as part of a 10-day program. He received the remaining training here. “On the last day of training, which was a Friday, he went for dinner with his friends. He returned late and had no idea what would happen to him on Sunday.”
“My wife and I were standing on the terrace and we waved goodbye to him,” he expressed.
Singh went to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib with his wife. After that, they stopped at Karnataka Bhawan to eat and were returning from there. “What happened with the BMW at Dhaula Kuan, how violently it happened, you can see from the condition of the car how badly they must have fallen,” his father added.
Singh was pronounced dead at the hospital, while his wife was shifted from Neulife to a hospital in Dwarka for better treatment.
