Beaming with pride, Zoho Corporation’s founder and CEO Sridhar Vembu boasted online this week that the Chennai-based company’s flagship email service called Zoho Mail was closing in on its $100 million annual revenue mark. However, over 70% of these earnings were generated internationally.

“Zoho Mail is approaching $100 million annual revenue, over 70% from outside India,” the Indian businessman wrote on X Monday evening.

He added in the tweet, “Below is the objective score on our anti-spam system from the reputed global benchmark Virus Bulletin. We continue to perfect it with our R&D effort.”

Zoho backing India’s digital sovereignty

Vembu went on to share June 2025 recordings for Zoho Mail on the Virus Bulletin. The test showed that the India-made service had blocked over 99% of the malware and phishing emails. Awarded a final score of 99.329, the product was ultimately awarded the VBSpam certification.

Zoho Mail’s impressive milestone consolidates its valuable position as an internationally-praised product with Indian roots. Its global traction continues to make headlines especially after Union Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw and the Indian government’s support pitch for Vembu’s Zoho.

Just a while back, the Indian Ministry of Education backed the mandatory use of Zoho Office Suite for all official purposes. By doing so, the Indian government doubled on taking a “bold step in the Swadeshi movement” and “empowering India to lead with homegrown innovation.” And so, Zoho has since become a symbol charging the vision of “India’s digital sovereignty.”
