Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger has been secretly engaged to his long-time girlfriend Melanie Hamrick for several years. — but the couple may never actually tie the knot. The 81-year-old rock legend has been dating the former ballerina for nearly a decade and previously sparked engagement rumours in 2023. At the time Hamrick had insisted that the diamond on her ring finger was merely a ‘promise ring’.
“We’ve been engaged two or three years. Maybe one day we’ll marry, maybe not. We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything. We try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure everyone is happy. That’s all that matters to me and all I strive for,” the 37-year-old told Paris Match this week as per a translation from French.
Hamrick and Jagger had first met in early 2014 while he was on a Japan tour with the Rolling Stones and she was travelling with the American Ballet Theatre. They started dating months after that first meeting and later welcomed a child — Deveraux Octavian Basil — together in 2016.
“I mean, I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes. But are we like, horny teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring,” she had told People magazine in 2023.
