A clip from Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, has been trending on social media not for a heartwarming or inspiring story of a contestant but for an unusual reason. Contestant Ishit Bhatt, a Class 5 student, answered every question correctly without waiting for Bachchan to read out the options. However, his winning streak came to an end when he got a question wrong.

What does the now-viral video show?

The now-viral video opens to show Bhat confidently stating that he knows the rules and doesn’t need the host to take him through them. As the video goes on, Bachchan asks the first question.

“Sir, option ke bina bol raha hun, breakfast [Sir, I’m saying this without asking for any options — breakfast],” says the young contestant.

The 83-year-old asks him the second, third, fourth and fifth questions, and Bhatt answered them all.

The turning point in the game

When he asks him the fifth question, he asks for the options. That’s when Big B said that he is not the only one who is smart. “Aap hi nahi hain hoshiyaar. Ye bhi bhot hoshiyar hain [You’re not the only smart one; they are smart as well].”

After receiving the options, Bhatt says, “Option B ko achchi tarah se lock kia jae. Ek kya usme chaar lock laga do, lekin lock kardo [Lock option B properly. Or even put four locks on it, but lock it,” the contestant says.

The host responds, “Bahut zor se bol rahe hain aap, tala laga dia jae [You’re speaking very firmly, let’s lock it],” and commands the computer to lock his choice.

The answer turns out to be wrong, leaving Bhat with no points.

“Kabhi kabhi bachhe overconfidence me galti kar dete hai. [Sometimes children make mistakes due to overconfidence],” Bachchan says.

After Bhatt exits the game, the episode introduces Angel Naithani, a sixth-standard student, who crossed the Rs 25,000 mark and became a rollover contestant.
