Shah Rukh Khan, widely known as the King of B-Town, has shared a heartfelt video after receiving the National Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his electrifying performance in Atlee’s blockbuster film, Jawan. The film was released in 2023.

Shah Rukh Khan shared the video on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, where he expressed gratitude towards the director, producer, and his team after winning his first-ever national award. “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude, pride and humility. To be honoured with the National Award is a moment that I will cherish for a lifetime,” SRK said in the video.

The superstar also extended heartfelt thanks to the National Awards jury, the chairman and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, as well as everyone who championed his performance. “Thank you so much to the jury, the chairman, and to everyone who thought I was worthy of this honour,” he said.

SRK singled out his filmmakers

“I want to thank all my directors and writers, especially for the year 2023. So, thank you, Raju sir and especially thanks to Atlee sir and his team for giving me the opportunity in Jawan and trusting me to deliver and be worthy of this award.”

Adding to that, he also praised his support staff, saying, “My team and management work so stylishly with me, bearing with my eccentricities and impatience. They give me their full attention and make me look much better than I am, like even now in this video.”

Tribute to family and fans

As we all know, no tribute from Shah Rukh would be complete without mention of his family. “This award without the perseverance and love would not be possible at all,” he said, before adding, “My wife and kids, who over the last few years have given me so much love and care, as if I’m the kid in the house and want only the best for me. They know my obsession with cinema takes me away, but they all bear it with a smile and allow me the time. So thank you very much for that.”

SRK shared this pride with Vikrant Massey, who earned the award for his role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s ’12th Fail’. The achievement marks the first National Award for both actors.

He tried to end his video with his signature open-arms pose, but couldn’t due to his injury. He then invoked humour, saying, “So, till then, with one hand,” as he recreated his signature pose.
