H-1B visa fee: After Trump raised the H-1B visa fee to $100,000 for fresh applications, the Co-founder and CTO of a San Francisco-based company turned the moment into a hiring opportunity. Not only is he inviting H-1B holders to apply, but he’s also promising to make a decision on every application within just 24 hours.
‘If you’re on an H-1B visa…’
Shahriar Tajbakhsh, in a LinkedIn post, shared a list of open roles for H-1B candidates at his company, with the words: “If you’re on an H-1B visa and your company doesn’t value you enough to pay the $100k, check out to see if any of our roles might be a fit.”
Tajbakhsh noted that many companies from other countries have been trying to lure H-1B holders abroad, but he called those efforts “a bit desperate”.
“Instead, come work with the Metaview, right here in San Francisco, where $100k is a rounding error compared to the value each member of our team creates,” he further added.
He also promised that his team is ready to “move fast” and will give a yes-or-no decision on each application within 24 hours of first contact. However, there’s a catch. Candidates should spare 4-5 hours of their time for interviews.
‘Like this approach to poach,’ say social media users
Reacting to his LinkedIn post, one investor wrote, “Nothing beats in-person culture at a fast-growing startup like Metaview, and SF is the beating heart of AI. $100k is a few days of H100 use, definitely a rounding error.”
“This will make for a great screenshot during salary negotiations…,” joked another.
A third posted, “I like this approach to poaching the best folks!”
