While social media is still buzzing over podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial “sex with parents” remark on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, users have now resurfaced an old video of stand-up comedian Kanan Gill posing the exact same question to actors Jackky Bhagnani and Lauren Gottlieb.

The video, dating back to 2015, appears to be from the promotional run for Welcome to Karachi, starring Jackky and Lauren. In the clip, Kanan asks them, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it?” The question leaves both actors visibly stunned, while Kanan insists they must respond.

Meanwhile, the internet has traced the origin of Ranveer Allahbadia’s remark to the Australian comedy show Truth or Drink, where TV host Sammy Walsh posed the same question to comedian Alan Fang.

Following backlash over the India’s Got Latent episode, Ranveer issued an apology, calling it a “lapse in judgment.” He stated, “I’m just here for an apology. I personally had a lapse in judgment. It wasn’t cool on my part. The podcast is watched by people of all ages. I don’t want to be the kind of person who takes that responsibility lightly, and family is the last thing I would ever disrespect.”

Ranveer, along with host Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, and other judges from the controversial episode, is now facing legal action. The Guwahati Police have registered an FIR against them under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complaint, filed by Alok Boruah from Guwahati, alleges that the remarks caused “serious harm to public decency.” Additionally, the Central government has issued a notice to YouTube, directing the platform to remove the video.
