An entrepreneur from Hyderabad has sold all his companies, not because he failed, but because he wanted to start over at the age of 39. Rajive Dhavn, who built his business from scratch and went on to win several awards, detailed his journey in an Instagram post. His story has resonated with many, who are finding it inspirational.

‘I folded shirts, cleaned racks’

“Here’s my story. Built a Rs 15 crore company. Then I chose to start over. This isn’t your typical success story. It’s messier than that,” Rajive Dhavn wrote on Instagram while sharing a carousel.

“I failed Class 8,” he revealed, before expressing that failing in academics was humiliating for him as a kid. “But business gave me strength. “Sold sauces and stuff to bakeries in Hyderabad.”

Dhavn went on to share that he dropped out of Class 10 as his family had no money for food and basics. “While friends were preparing for academics, I was readying for the real world.”

“Cleaned racks & folded shirts at Zodiac to support my family. Got my first corporate salary at GE – felt on top of the world.”

He stated that he lost his mother the very next day in 2004. “…lost my mom. I was 18. Everything came to a standstill.”

“Worked at MNCs for years. Then left everything to become a writer. Started What’s In a Name in Hyderabad with a Rs 40,000 loan. Built it into a Rs 15-crore company. 100+ brands. Awards. Recognition,” he further shared and credited an individual named Santosh for helping him buy his first computer.

“Started Namesake, a video production company. Launched Just Flaunt salons,” he added.

Dhavn added that he has now sold all his companies to start over. “Not because I failed. But because I needed to start over. This time, as a content creator. From scratch. At 39.”

‘Truly inspirational,’ say social media users

The Instagram post, as expected, has been gaining a lot of traction on social media. While many found his post “inspirational”, others wished him the best for his future endeavours.

“Truly inspirational. Sharing so much needs courage. More power to you,” said one individual.

Another added, “This has more ups and downs than an Abbas Mastaan movie! More power to you, my friend.”

“Love your hustle and the way you’re creating stories and building businesses. Truly inspiring. More power to you!” commented a third.

A fourth posted, “God! What a story of resilience. I have known you for a very long time and have seen you strive for excellence and success always! Keep shining.”
