A video shared on X said that many TikTok videos are showing a lot of trash and mess left behind by Indian communities living abroad after Diwali celebrations.
This has started a debate online about how these festival activities affect cleanliness in other countries and the civic sense of Indians.
The tweet read, “TikTok is flooded with videos showing filth created by Indians abroad during Diwali. The day isn’t far when foreign countries will start closing their doors for Indians.”
In another video from the United States, police and fire officials stopped people from bursting fireworks on a public street late at night, which broke local safety and noise rules.

A large group of people is seen celebrating Diwali with loud fireworks, while police and firefighters try to stop the fireworks by spraying water.
Similar reports came from many US states, where people questioned the responsibility of Indians celebrating late at night and breaking rules.
Videos and posts showed fireworks being used in public places, and some local people criticised the lack of respect for community rules.
After Diwali, the Morrisville Police Department in North Carolina posted about damage caused by illegal fireworks.
Similar warnings came from Texas cities like Dallas, Frisco, and Melissa, where officials said lighting fireworks after allowed hours could lead to fines.
A few weeks before, a public Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Texas also caused problems when crowds blocked a residential street.
‘How difficult is to follow rules?’
Netizens also posted their reaction to the video. A user noted, “How difficult is it to follow the rules? Why we always feel proud in crossing the line? We are here for the quality of life, which the locals have created by sheer hard work and discipline. If you cant improve it, at least don’t destroy it.”
Another noted, “Every festival should end with lights in the sky, not litter on the ground. This isn’t celebration – it’s carelessness…”
“It’s time to go back, Im afraid. Just not ready for integration to western culture,” added a user.
“Damaging India while living in India, and then tarnishing other countries’ reputations after moving abroad — some people carry their filth wherever they go,” noted a netizen.
“I cannot defend my country anymore… In comments, more people are defending this by posting others’ trash… But bro, why do we have to defend?? This is bad, and we have to act and criticize,” asked a user.
“They need to be held accountable, fined, arrested, etc. or it will just continue. ENFORCE THE LAW or you become lawless,” stated another.
