A woman from Chandigarh, Shilpa Arora, raised serious concerns over Uber’s passenger safety after her daughter was left injured following a severe car accident near Mohali on Thursday morning. The 7:52 am crash involved an Uber vehicle en route to her daughter’s college. According to Arora, the airbags deployed instantly, yet the children in the back were trapped while the driver walked away unscathed.

“She was rushed to Fortis Mohali, not by Uber or the driver, but by onlookers who showed humanity when the system did not,” Arora wrote on LinkedIn, highlighting the driver’s indifference and the absence of immediate corporate intervention.

Parents Demand Answers, Social Media Reacts

Arora and her husband rushed from Delhi to Mohali upon hearing the news. She described their state as “helpless, angry, and heartbroken,” and called for accountability not just for her family but for all parents trusting ride-hailing services with their children’s safety. “Can children be left at the mercy of strangers while the platform washes its hands off?” she questioned.

Social media users expressed outrage, with one writing, “Very sorry to hear about this accident. I hope your daughter recovers fully, quickly.” Another added, “This is scary. Lack of accountability has become blatant in these times.”

Uber responded to Arora’s post, stating, “Hi Shilpa, we are deeply concerned by this incident and wish your daughter a smooth recovery. A specialised team is actively investigating and has attempted to get in touch.”

Arora said her immediate focus remains on her daughter’s recovery but vowed to pursue the issue until Uber provides answers and takes full responsibility.
