Google Trends: Election Results has been trending on Google since Wednesday morning. The search query has gone up over 5K. Even the query for ‘Election Commission of India’ has surged over time with more than 5K.
The query is trending because counting of votes for the Haryana Municipal Corporation Elections 2025 is currently underway. The elections were held to choose representatives for positions like Mayors, Presidents, and ward members in different Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Municipal Committees. The elections took place on March 2, with a voter turnout of only 41 percent across all local bodies. Additionally, the voting for the Mayor election in Panipat was held on March 9.
The key parties battling it out in the local elections in Haryana, are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress competing in the local elections in Haryana, both hoping to win seats in Gurugram.
These elections are for selecting ward members and the Mayor, with the BJP aiming for a majority in the municipality. This time, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will have 36 wards, up from the previous number.
Elections are also taking place in other cities like Manesar, Faridabad, Hisar, Rohtak, Karnal, Yamunanagar, and Panipat.
The results for the mayoral by-elections in Ambala and Sonepat are being counted. Haryana State Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh mentioned that the results will be available on the official State Election Commission website, secharyana.gov.in.
