Anand Mahindra, industrialist and chairman of the Mahindra Group, recently took to social media to commend Indian-American figure skater Tara Prasad for her remarkable achievements and her choice to represent India over the United States. Mahindra shared a video of Prasad on X (formerly Twitter), lauding her commitment and praising her for making India proud with her figure skating performances.

In his post, Mahindra expressed admiration for Prasad’s journey and extended his best wishes for her bid to secure a spot at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Reflecting on her accomplishments, he wrote, “I hadn’t heard of Tara Prasad’s accomplishments until a friend recently sent me this clip. Apparently, Tara switched her US citizenship to an Indian one in 2019 and has since been our national skating champion three times. Well done, Tara. I hope you are at the forefront of athletes who give India a notable presence in winter sports.

He further added, “I know you narrowly missed out on a spot in the last Winter Olympics but have your sights set on the games in ‘26. We’ll all be rooting for you…. Go chase that dream….”

Who is Tara Prasad?

Born on February 24, 2000, Tara Prasad competes in women’s singles for India and has made significant strides on the international stage. She secured silver medals at the 2024 Reykjavik International and the 2024 Skate Celje, adding to her growing list of accolades. Domestically, Prasad has been a dominant force, clinching national titles in 2022, 2023, and 2025. Her participation in the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships saw her reaching the final rounds in both 2022 and 2023.

Prasad’s path hasn’t been without challenges. The 2022-2023 season tested her resilience as she dealt with two ankle sprains and a back injury, sidelining her from training for nearly four months. Despite these setbacks, she made an impressive comeback, finishing 14th at the 2023 Four Continents Championships.

After securing her third national title in 2025, Prasad maintained her momentum, achieving a 16th-place finish at the 2025 Four Continents Championships. Her perseverance and consistent performances have firmly established her as a leading contender, with her sights now set on qualifying for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
