Laid off from Amazon, a former employee of the company has taken to social media stressing that the experience of working in Amazon is not as significant as it might look to people. The ex-employee claimed to have worked in the company for five years, starting as an intern and growing to L5 level. But after being asked to go, the person is facing challenges in finding work opportunities.

“Amazon is a curse. I worked 5 years now no one will hire me I started at Amazon as an intern,” the user titled the anonymous social media post.

“Got the return offer, climbed up to L5, thought I was set for life. Now I can’t even get callbacks. Every interview feels like I’m being tested for banana pip factory,” the post read.

Recruiters reveal shocking detail of working with Amazon

During the interviews, the user said a startup said that working with Amazon means they cannot collaborate. “One feedback I got from a startup I interviewed with said, apparently Amazon work experience means you can’t collaborate, can’t build fast, and is low quality,” the user mentioned.

He went on to add that the feedback left him shocked, but now he is believing the same. “I was shocked to hear the recruiter say that but after countless interviews and no offers, I began to think it is probably right,” the post read.

“Any ex-Amazonians want to share your stories of how you landed your job? I am desperate,” the user further said in the post, asking people to share their own experiences. Financialexpress.com cannot independently verify the authenticity of the post.

Netizens stress that time has changed in Amazon

Commenting on the post, a user said working in Amazon has changed as the company is not what it used to be in the 2010s.

“People still have the 2010s Amazon tech brand in mind. 5 years tenure from say 2014 to 2019 is completely different to having worked there 2019 to 2024,” the post read.

Another said, “I low key think he’s just bad, and interviewers avoid confrontation by putting the blame on Amazon, because they don’t owe him how to improve.”

“I think the job market is simply bad that even Amazon L5 has a hard time,” a third user commented.
