The recent geopolitical situation seems to have confused people across the globe, with the bilateral dynamics between several countries changing continuously. Something similar has been highlighted by businessman Harsh Goenka. The RPG Enterprises chairman, who often shares his views on a range of issues on social media, this time explained a dilemma that he has encountered.

Goenka said he is a true patriot but “utterly confused”. Reason – a cricket match between India and Pakistan. He said that when tensions were high between India and China, he boycotted Chinese products and did the same when Turkey helped Pakistan with weapons.

He added that he cancelled his Maldives holiday when the island nation took an anti-India stance.

“As a patriot, I am utterly confused. Earlier I boycotted China (no noodles, no Chinese Ganesha), then I stopped having Turkish baklava, next it was Maldives (I cancelled my holiday)…” he said in a post on X.

Now, as India-US ties became sour over President Donald Trump’s tariffs, Goenka said he has now made some changes there too.

“… then I went to the temple erected for Trump and embraced everything American. But as a loyalist, I’ve recently stopped going to McDonalds and drinking Coke. I’ve moved to Russian vodka and preparing for making TikTok reels,” he said.

He then mentioned his “current dilemma” and asked if watching an India-Pakistan cricket game, which will happen soon in the Asia Cup this month, is not against his patriotic spirit.

“Current dilemma: Can I watch the upcoming Pakistan cricket game? – A confused desh bhakt,” he said.

Users react to viral post

As it happens, the post went viral with 315k views and over 900 comments. A user suggested Goenka to try Karachi halwa. “You can try Karachi halwa 🙂,” the X user said.

To this, Goenka replied, “Actually, my favourite drink is Lahori zeera. I wonder if you’ve ever tried it. Rs 10 per bottle only.”

Another user made some serious observations and said that the only solution is to use Indian products, something which PM Narendra Modi has been reiterating again and again.

“Everything boils down to one thing, try using Indian products. And yes, in geopolitics, things can change quickly. We must adapt. If someone is against us today, we criticize them. If someone is in favor of us, we praise them. It’s not tough,” the post read.

India-US ties

India-US relations had seen a big boost during Donald Trump‘s first tenure as the US president. However, his second regime has been marked by a number of decisions in which he has acted against India as well. He imposed 25% tariffs on Indian exports and also levied a 25% penalty for buying Russian oil.

Recently, he criticised New Delhi for not allowing the Americans to sell and said that the US buys a lot from India. Trump said the trade ties between the two countries has been a “one sided disaster”.
