Ahmedabad school murder: A Class 8 student stabbed one of his seniors outside the school premises in Ahmedabad on Tuesday following a heated argument and scuffle. The accused has been detained by police under the Juvenile Act, and an investigation is underway. Now, purported chats between the accused and one of his friends on Instagram have gone viral on social media.

In the chat, the accused not only confessed to the stabbing but also revealed what triggered him. The student said that the senior allegedly taunted him by asking who he was and what he could do, which apparently triggered him to the extent that he took his life. “Arey mereko bol raha tha ki kaun hai, kya kar lega tu [He was saying to me, ‘Who are you, what can you even do?’]”

Ahmedabad school murder: Viral chats

Below are the purported chats between the accused and his friend, which have gone viral on social media. NDTV has also published a transcript of this chat.

Accused: Haan [Yes]

Friend: Bhai tumne chaku mara tha? [Brother, did you stab someone?]

The friend then responds to the victim about who the person was.

Accused: Konse std me hai? [Which standard?]

Friend: Arey mereko…usne bola ki aaj school me aisa sab hua. […told me that all this happened at school today.]

The accused here responds to a previous “Hua kya tha? [What had happened?] message.

Accused: Arey meko bol rha tha ki kon hai, kya karlega tu [He was saying to me, ‘Who are you, what can you do?’]

Friend: Arey toh chaku thodi marna hota hai. Maar deta. Maar nahi dalna tha. [You can’t stab someone to death for this. You could have just beaten him up, not killed him.]

Accused: Chor na. Ab jo ho gaya wo ho gaya. [Whatever happened has happened now.]

Friend: Dhyan rakhna. Thode time underground raho. Chats delete karde aur ye wali. [Take care of yourself. Go underground for some time. Delete these chats.]

Accused: Hnnn. Hmmm. [Ok.]

Protests at Ahmedabad school

Following the murder of a Class 10 student, hundreds of people, including the parents, turned up outside the School in Khokra and staged a protest. According to a report by HT, a violent mob not only vandalised the school premises, vehicles but also assaulted the staff.

“We demand justice. We have lost our child today. Tomorrow it could be someone else’s kid. Unless strict action is taken, such incidents will keep happening,” a relative of the victim was quoted by TOI as saying.

The victim’s parents also alleged that other students assisted the accused in the crime and that the school administration attempted to destroy evidence by washing away blood stains. The police said that, should these allegations prove to be true, then strict action would be taken against those complicit in the crime.

A student’s mother told news agency ANI that she had repeatedly complained about the behaviour of students at the school, but no strict action was taken by the authorities. She alleged that boys on campus not only watched adult films but also molested girls, carried knives and mobile phones, and used abusive language both on the school bus and within the premises.

“For the past two years, such incidents have been coming to light. I have complained twice. Boys speak indecent language on the school bus,” the mother was quoted by ANI as saying.
