In the recent internet conflict between K-pop idol Jennie and Bollywood actress, Alia Bhatt, fans spotted some similarities between “Rani’s Intro theme” from Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahaani and Jennie’s fourth single from her debut album “Ruby”. Many fans took to social media and presented their criticism on this “plagiarism”. Fans of BLACKPINK unable to deal with this “observation”, slammed Alia with name-calling and racial comments.

Rocky aur Rani was a Dharma Productions film released in 2023 starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. Composed by Pritam, Rani’s Intro Theme was seemingly identical in its beats, hook and melody to “Like Jennie”. Many users took to X and posted the similarities between the two.

Netizens observe similarities between Rani’s intro theme and the teaser of “Like Jennie”

With nearly two years of a gap between the song’s release dates, the plagiarism row has taken fans by a storm. On one hand BLACKPINK fans hurl racial comments at Alia Bhatt and India responding to a fan from India saying, “No one knows this, Khia, except for the fact that your country is the dirtiest in the world, lmao”

Defending the celebrity’s popularity status, a user reacted with their almost identical social media following on Instagram. “Both have almost the same number of followers and both have been to the same Met Gala where Alia gracefully overshadowed your girlie.”

Debates rose as another user defending Jennie claimed that “Alia is only famous in India, Jennie is a global superstar”. Sparking uproar on the internet this comment triggered support for Alia calling out the BLACKPINK fans or BLINKS for hate-speech. These hate-tweets were largely criticised as they defended Alia for being a representative of the Indian film industry at the Met Gala and Cannes.

@GenZennials shared “Kid Alia has double the acting experience Jennie has in music, a hit one at that. That song is a Pritam(artist) song, Alia was the actress in the film. Rani was her character name. You are hating the wrong person here. Get a grip”

As this row continues there has been no comment from either Alia Bhatt or Jennie since Alia Bhatt technically has no role in making the song.
