Separate Case: Alleged Child Marriage in Anepalya
In another development, Bengaluru police have registered a case after reports that a 16-year-old girl was allegedly married off at a mosque in Anepalya on September 26. Acting on a complaint by a government official, Ashok Nagar police filed the case under the Child Marriage Restraint Act on September 29. Authorities confirmed that the matter was referred to the Child Welfare Committee for further action.
Advocate Hussain Owais submitted a petition to senior police officials naming individuals, including a Waqf Board member, as participants in the alleged marriage. The complaint stated that the act violated child protection laws and raised concerns that the minor might be pregnant.
