WTC final table: After West Indies secured a series-leveling 120-run victory over Pakistan within three days in the second and final Test on January 27 (Monday), the World Test Championship (WTC) standings saw notable shifts. West Indies ended the WTC cycle in eighth position, while Pakistan slipped to ninth. Australia and South Africa have already sealed their spots for the WTC final at Lord’s in June 2025.

Pakistan, needing an improbable 178 more runs to win on a spinning wicket they had prepared, crumbled quickly on Day 3 to the left-arm spin of Jomel Warrican. This gave the West Indies their first Test win in Pakistan in over 34 years.

Meanwhile, India’s hopes of qualifying for the WTC final ended following a defeat in the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney. India on January 5, which lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in a decade by a 3-1 margin, saw its points percentage (PCT) drop from 52.77 to 50.00, landing third place with eight losses this cycle. On the other hand, Australia notched their 11th win of the edition, boosting their points percentage from 61.45 to 63.72.

When is WTC final between Australia and South Africa?

Australia, who won the previous WTC final in 2023 by defeating India at The Oval, will face South Africa in the WTC 2025 final, scheduled to take place at Lord’s from July 11-15. Historically, Australia lead South Africa 54-26 in Test cricket encounters, but the WTC final will mark their first neutral Test since the 1912 Triangular Tournament involving England.
