After Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his dissatisfaction with the Pakistani team’s hotel being far from the ground, where the team will be clashing with India in New York, the International Cricket Council (ICC) changed the team’s hotel location, a source at the Pakistan Cricket Board told AP News.
The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan will unfold on Sunday in New York.
Earlier, the team’s hotel was a 90-minute drive away from the ground, while Team India’s hotel was about 10 minutes away.
Naqvi contacted the ICC, voiced his concerns and successfully persuaded the World Cup management to relocate the Pakistan team to a hotel just five minutes away from the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
The Pakistani team is set to play their two Group A matches at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium against India on June 9 and Canada on June 11.
Meanwhile, the Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, is aiming for their first T20 World Cup title since the tournament’s inaugural edition in 2007. India started their campaign on a high note with a commanding 8-wicket victory over Ireland on Wednesday.
Pakistan will kick off their World Cup journey against co-hosts the USA on Thursday in Dallas. In the previous edition of the tournament, India edged out Pakistan. Historically, India and Pakistan have faced each other seven times in the tournament, with India winning five times, losing once and tying one game.
