Defending champion Roger Federer continued his rich vein of form as he swept aside Britain number one Andy Murray in straight sets to reach the Cincinnati Masters final.

Swiss maestro Roger Federer overcame AndyMurray 6-4, 7-6 (8-6) in a thrilling semi-final contest that lasted one hour and 37 minutes.

Murray, who replaced Federer as world number one this week, struggled against the latter’s flawless strokes in the first set before producing a resilient display in the next set, the BBC reported.

Meanwhile, world number one Novak Djokovic claimed a 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win over his Ukranian opponent Alexandr Dolgopolov to reach the tournament’s final. (ANI)
