Rio Olympics 2016: Shuttler PV Sindhu today created history after she entered women’s singles final in Badminton beating Japanese counterpart Nozomi Okuhara in straight sets by 21-19, 21-10 and assured at least a Silver medal to India. Sindhu had earlier lost to Okuhara 3 times in head-to-head encounter but this time she did not let Okuhara overcome her and gave the Japanese back to back shots in 49 minutes long bout.
The match witnessed many long rallies, most of them went in favour of Sindhu. PV Sindhu will now face two-time World Champion Carolina Marin of Spain in the final tomorrow. India had earlier won a Bronze in Badminton when Saina Nehwal bagged it in 2012 London Olympics. Sindhu won the first set 21-19 in nail-biting finish while the second set saw a wide margin win with Sindhu taking it home 21-10.

The second set saw Sindhu came out all cylinders blazing after the change of sides and reeled off 11 straight points with the help of her array of strokes, which included some brilliant backhand flick and drops, to completely demolish Japanese counterpart. For the record, Marin also entered her maiden Olympic final beating London Olympic champion Li Xuerui 21-14 21-16.
