The NADA Disciplinary panel has deferred its verdict on the Olympics-qualified Narsingh Yadav’s participation in the Rio Olympics 2016 for the 74kg freestyle quota after he was tested positive for consuming a banned steroid.

Narsingh Yadav’s failed dope test came as a big blow to the Olympics-qualified player and the Indian Olympics Association.

Narsingh made his name with a bronze medal finish in last year’s World Championships. The player had earlier said that his food was spiked after which an FIR was filed against two wrestlers.

Parveen Rana was expected to be the replacement for Narsingh Yadav as an Indian contingent in the Rio Olympics, 2016
