Indian shooter Ramita Jindal has stormed into the final whereas Elavenil Valarivan has suffered a loss in the women’s 10m air rifle event at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. Jindal cemented her seat in the final by scoring 631.5 and completing as the fifth contender. On the other hand, Valarivan started strong but ultimately lost it.
Jindal was wearing Bib No. 1436 began her competition with a dominant 10.5 score followed by a perfect 10.9 and was shooting from lane 37. Valarivan was wearing Bib No. 1441 and was shooting from lane number 24. She opened her score with 10.6 and 10.7. During the initial series, Jindal’s performance dropped and she came out of the top 20 finishing with a score of 104.3. On the contrary, Valarivan ended the first series with 105.8 points, resulting in her in the top 5 position.
In the second round, Jindal showed improvement and managed to score in the 10 range, which made her climb to the eight slots. Valarivan maintained her flow and remained in the top five. Valarivan moved up to a second position in the second series and seems to be in a safe slot for the rest of her event whereas Jindal accumulated the lowest score which ended up affecting her ranking. As the match progressed further, Jindal made a rebound while in contrast, Valarivan lost her momentum in her final shots, leading further deep in her rankings.
Eventually, Jindal attained 10.4 score and gathered 105.7 points in the final round. She surpassed Oceanne Muller to seal her position in the final.
