The Paris 2024 Olympics is all set to begin on July 26 in France. More than 100 athletes will be representing India across 16 sports in 69 medal events. The grand sports event will be live-streamed in India for free.
India’s first battle will be in archery ranking rounds and will include a total number of six including Deepika Kumari and Tarundeep Rai on July 25. India’s most triumphant Olympic performance to date was at Tokyo 2020 in which players were able to clinch seven medals-one gold, two silvers, and four bronze.
Neeraj Chopra made history by bagging gold at Tokyo 2020 in the men’s javelin throw and became the first Indian to bag an Olympic medal in athletics. He can be watched competing for the medal on August 6 and August 8. Badminton player PV Sindhu, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, and boxer Lolina Borohain with other players will be showcasing their talent on the world stage. India will be joining the Paris 2024 Olympics with 112 members.
As per reports, Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna, 44 years old will be the oldest athlete to participate whereas swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu, 14 years old will be the youngest contender.
The spotlight will also be on the India men’s hockey team who won a bronze at Tokyo 2020. A huge army of youngsters will be representing India like tennis player Sumit Nagal, wrestler Antim Panghal, hurdler Jyothi Yarraji, boxer Nikhat Zareen, badminton players Chirag Shetty, Lakshya Sen and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.
The largest chunk of the total players of India will be represented by the athletics with 29 contingent. Annu Rani, Kishore Jena, Avinash Sable, and Tajinerpal Singh Toor will lead from the same category.
