The Indian Premier League (IPL) officially confirmed on Saturday morning that Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson have been exchanged between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
In the next IPL season, Samson will play for CSK in the yellow jersey, while Jadeja will return to the Royals – the team where he began his IPL journey. England all-rounder Sam Curran has also joined the Royals and will be seen in pink next season.
Salary changes for Jadeja and Samson
Because of the trade, Jadeja’s salary has been reduced. He will now earn Rs 14 crore from the Royals, instead of the Rs 18 crore he was getting at CSK ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Samson, meanwhile, moves to CSK at his existing salary of Rs 18 crore.
Arjun Tendulkar, who spent the last few seasons with the Mumbai Indians, has been traded to the Lucknow Super Giants. Mohammed Shami will also play for the Rishabh Pant-led side after being traded from SunRisers Hyderabad.
Mayank Markande has also moved from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) back to Mumbai Indians, and Nitish Rana has been traded from the Royals to Delhi Capitals.
Samson shares emotional message
Reacting emotionally to the move, Samson wrote on Instagram, “We are only here for a short period of time. Gave my everything to this franchise, enjoyed some great cricket, made some lifetime relations, treated everyone in the franchise as my family. And when it’s time. I am moving on. Shall always be grateful for everything @rajasthanroyals.”

Several fans wished Samson well. One user wrote on X, “He came into Rajasthan as a nobody, leaving Rajasthan as the King. Someone who made people to believe again since the Warne era. Do not think he left because of his greed, but he feels Rajasthan can stand on its own. New challenge for Sanju at CSK”.
Another fan added, “Once A Royal, Forever Royal”.
Not everyone was happy with the development. One of Samson’s disappointed fans wrote, “This is the most heartbreaking day as Royal fan. Past 10 days all the talk around trade…just wanted all it is fake and rumors, but today when it is official this…this hurts the most. Rajasthan You messed up big time…!!! You let go the face of RR…You let go our soul.”
Another user said, “Time to move for another team to support in ipl . Thank you royals for entertainment”.
Reacting to Jadeja’s swap, a user wrote, “We have taken everything during his prime years and now we leave him like this”.
Another fan wrote, “We never thought we’ll see you play for other teams. Go well Jaddu!! We’ll support you wherever you play. You’ll always be our Thalapathy”.
One more reaction surfaced, where a user said, “Thank you, Jadeja, for being the Super King for so long. Now the time has come for you to become the Royal Jadeja. Wishing you the very best”.
