Following a close match between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Kuldeep Yadav was seen slapping Rinku Singh. Which was supposed to be a playful exchange between the sportsmen raised a lot of eyebrows on social media. The viral clip showed Yadav slapping KKR’s Rinku Singh twice even after he visibly appeared confused.

Taken aback by this action, netizens defended Singh by saying how “clearly humiliated Rinku feels”. After DC went down a spot after their loss, the teams were observed in a cheerful mood. On the other hand, a large section of people flocked to Kuldeep’s support and calling his action “playful banter”.

Batter Rinku Singh scored 35 off 25 balls for the Knight Riders in the crucial match in the Arun Jaitley stadium. After DC’s home-ground loss, netizens speculate the reason behind Kuldeep’s gesture. Netizens flooded the social media posts with divided comments. While some viewers defended the “friendly jabs” some even asked Yadav to be ‘banned from IPL 2025’ urging action from the BCCI and the franchise owners.

Users asked for a “strict action” against Kuldeep after the audio-less video went viral. Fans also speculate whether Rinku Singh clapped back but fans called out Kuldeep’s actions as his “worst and rustic behaviour”. A user shared the video saying, “This is so sad. He felt so sad… Kuldeep should be sent out of the tournament for such a behavior. You can see the change in the face of Rinku. I feel his shock and pain. He did not deserve it… Very sad…. Really sad. Don’t call it a joke now”.

The Delhi Capitals currently rank fourth on the IPL 2025 points table after six wins from 10 games so far. IPL 2024 champions, KKR are still looking for a win to improve their chances of making it to the playoffs. With the next match on May 5, fans speculate whether Delhi Capitals will retain Kuldeep in their match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rinku Singh will play for KRR a day prior against the fiery Rajasthan Royals in their home ground.
