IPL Auction 2025 Players List SRH: Sunrisers Hyderabad had a busy and eventful day at the IPL Auction 2025 in Jeddah on Sunday, making some significant acquisitions. Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who had a base price of Rs 2 crore, was bought by SRH for Rs 11.25 crore. In addition, pacers Mohammed Shami and Harshal Patel were picked up for Rs 10 crore and Rs 8 crore, respectively. Spinner Rahul Chahar was also acquired for Rs 3.2 crore. SRH further strengthened their squad with the signings of Abhinav Manohar (Rs 3.2 crore), Adam Zampa (Rs 2.4 crore), and Atharva Taide (Rs 30 lakh).
The big bid for Shami came as a surprise to many. Before the auction, former player Sanjay Manjrekar had predicted that Shami wouldn’t fetch a high price, which prompted a response from the pacer on social media. The bidding for Shami began with Kolkata Knight Riders, with Chennai Super Kings soon entering the fray. After CSK dropped out at Rs 8.25 crore, Lucknow Super Giants took over, pushing the bid to Rs 9.75 crore before also pulling out. SRH ultimately won the bidding war with a bid of Rs 10 crore, before Gujarat Titans exercised their right to match (RTM).
Shami had been released by Gujarat Titans ahead of the auction and missed the 2024 season due to injury. However, he finished as India’s leading wicket-taker in the 2023 World Cup, also becoming the fastest bowler to reach 50 wickets in the tournament’s 48-year history. He is expected to lead SRH’s bowling attack alongside captain Pat Cummins.
