SRH vs MI match 8: In a high-scoring thriller match of IPL 17, Sunrisers Hyderabad crushed Mumbai Indians and won the game by 31 runs. This was the eight match of the tournament and has now gone down in the IPL history for the several records that were set today.

Mumbai Indians’ captain Hardik Pandya won the toss in Hyderabad and chose to bowl first. What followed was no less than a marvel.

SRH vs MI: Sunrisers Hyderabad post  highest ever IPL total

Sunrisers Hyderabad unleashed a rampage, setting a new IPL record with a colossal total of 277 for 3 against Mumbai Indians.

One of the biggest regrets team Mumbai probably has right now is dropping Travis Head’s catch when he had scored just five runs. SRH’s opening batsman, Travis Head, blazed his way to 62 off 24 balls, while Abhishek Sharma, batting at number three, smashed 63 off just 23 deliveries. Head scored the fastest 50 by an SRH batter off just 18 balls. His record, however, was broken within minutes when Sharma scored his fastest 50 for SRH in just 16 balls.

Heinrich Klaasen emerged as the late-game dynamo for SRH, remaining unbeaten on 80 runs from just 34 balls.

The previous highest total in the IPL stood at 263 for five, achieved by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013. This feat also marked the highest total ever recorded in a T20 league.

SRH vs MI: Mumbai Indians put up their highest total

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kisan gave MI the perfect start. They too started raining sixes and fours and soon the team was somewhat mirroring SRH’s trajectory.

In pursuit of a massive 278-run target, Rohit Sharma, playing his 200th game for the franchise, showcased his class with 26 runs off 12 balls, while Ishan Kishan contributed a vital 34 off 13 deliveries. Tilak Varma’s impressive innings of 64 off 34 balls, embellished with half a dozen sixes, kept Mumbai Indians’ hopes alive deep into the match.

With the score at 182 for three in 14 overs and seven wickets in hand, Mumbai Indians seemed on the threshold for a remarkable comeback, only to succumb to the mounting pressure from the scoreboard. Even Tim David’s valiant effort of 42 not out off 22 balls towards the end was not sufficient to alter the outcome. Mumbai Indians ended their innings at the score of 246. This is the highest score put up by MI in the IPL.
