Pakistan seal a thumping victory to lift the Men’s U-19 Asia Cup title outright for the first time, and their first since being joint winners with India in 2013. They were clinical from start to finish, setting the tone with a towering 347/8 after being asked to bat first, powered by Sameer Minhas’ scintillating 172.

India’s chase began brightly with 32 runs off the first two overs, but the momentum evaporated after the early dismissal of skipper Ayush Mhatre in the third. With the asking rate soaring, India were forced into ambitious strokeplay, triggering a cascade of wickets. Reduced to 68/5 by the end of the powerplay, the chase never regained shape.

The lower order offered little resistance, despite Pakistan spilling a couple of chances in the field. Deepesh Devendran’s late blows only postponed the inevitable, as Pakistan wrapped up a comprehensive 191-run win to script a dominant finish to the final.

A slice of luck for India. Abdul Subhan bangs it in short and Deepesh goes for the pull, getting a top edge that flies towards long leg. The fielder gets under it but cannot hold on, the ball sailing over the rope for six. The misfield comes at a cost, though, with the fielder going down injured and the physio rushing out to assess the situation.

Huzaifa Ahsan strikes again and Pakistan are now one wicket away. Tossed up outside off, Henil Patel goes for the drive but fails to keep it down, slicing it straight to Usman Khan at long-off. A simple catch ends a scratchy stay of 6 off 19. India’s resistance continues to fade as Pakistan tighten their grip on the U-19 Asia Cup final.

Huzaifa Ahsan floats it up full on off stump and Patel steps out in search of a big hit, only to miscue it off the toe-end. Mohammad Sayyam settles under it at long-off to take a comfortable catch. India continue to crumble under pressure, with Pakistan now just two wickets away from sealing a massive win. WHat a performance in the final.

Patel spots the length early from Niqab Shaib and sends this over mid-wicket for a SIX.

The last 12 balls also saw a SIX off the blade of Khilan but might only be delaying the inevitable.

Another blow for India as Kanishk Chouhan falls, and the chase continues to unravel. Ali Raza bangs it in short, the ball zipping back in from outside off. Chouhan looks to get underneath it and pull towards midwicket but ends up miscues it straight to Farhan Yousaf at mid-on. Abhigyan Kundu’s attempted ramp goes horribly wrong as he picks out Niqab Shafiq at third man.

It was a short-of-a-length delivery angled across and the connection was never convincing, looping straight into Shafiq’s hands.

A simple catch and a costly error from Kundu, who departs for 13 off 20. Pakistan continue to tighten the screws as India’s chase unravels.

Surely the game in the pocket for Pakistan.

How is that for a shot? Kundu welcomes the spinner with a slog sweep that goes over the ropes for a SIX!

Kanishk Chouhan and Abhigyan Kundu out in the middle for India at the moment. The finish line too far ahead at this point. India need a few partnerships and even then they might fall short. But for now all they need to is play one ball at a time, not think too far ahead.

It’s a short ball and Trivedi tries to go for the big hit, perhaps because of the pressure of the dot balls. Ends up managing a top edge, the ball goes high, ultimately a safe catch by Niqab Shafiq. Second wicket for Mohammad Sayyam.

Wicket in the first over for Abdul Subhan. The last ball of the over, Malhotra tries a shot on the leg side, misses the ball altogether and ends up losing his wicket. IND- 59/4 in 6.6 overs.

It’s short and wide from Mohammad Sayyam and Malhotra smashes it for a boundary. What a shot.

Vihaan Malhotra- 1* off 3, Vedant Trivedi- 1* off 2.

Ali Raza delivers a major breakthrough as Vaibhav Suryavanshi departs for a brisk 26 off 10. The left-hander looks to take on a short-of-a-length delivery angled across him but only manages a thick outside edge.

Hamza Zahoor reacts sharply, sprinting back to complete a fine catch over his head. There was little room to free the arms and the extra bounce did the rest. Pakistan are fired up, celebrating with an aggressive send-off, while India find themselves wobbling in this steep chase.

Second wicket for Ali Raza. India lose three top batters in the run chase even though they have scored 49 runs in 4.1 overs.

Three boundaries in the over but Aaron George falls. He tries to take the short ball on but only manages an edge, Mohammad Shayan makes no mistake. Mohammad Sayyam gets a wicket.
