Australia’s Travis Head delivered a stellar performance on Day 2 of the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against India at the Adelaide Oval, registering his eighth Test century. The middle-order batter dedicated his achievement to his newborn child and paid tribute to former teammate Phil Hughes, adding a sentimental layer to his explosive knock.

Head’s innings, characterized by his signature aggressive play, came off just 111 balls, featuring 11 fours and three sixes. This effort marked his third century in day-night Test matches, further cementing his dominance in the pink-ball format. The 30-year-old also broke the record for the fastest hundred in day-night Tests, surpassing his own record of 112 balls set against England in Hobart in 2022.

The South Australian batter has consistently performed against India outside the subcontinent. Notably, he scored 163 in the ICC World Test Championship final in 2023, steering Australia to a commanding 209-run victory. Head followed this up with another century in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup final, where his heroics helped Australia defeat India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, clinching their sixth title in the format.

Head’s innings in Adelaide not only showcased his incredible form but also highlighted his ability to rise to the occasion in crucial matches.
