Abhishek Sharma etched his name in Indian cricket history by registering the highest individual score for India in Twenty20 Internationals during the fifth T20I against England at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

The previous record was held by Shubman Gill, who had scored an unbeaten 126 off 63 balls against New Zealand on February 1, 2023. However, Abhishek’s explosive knock of 135 runs off 54 balls eclipsed that record, marking a remarkable achievement for the 24-year-old southpaw.

Abhishek’s brilliant innings came to an end when he was caught by Jofra Archer at deep extra cover off an Adil Rashid delivery. In addition to his impressive score, Abhishek set a new record for the most sixes hit by an Indian in a T20I innings, clearing the boundary a total of 13 times.

Earlier in his innings, he also set the record for the second-fastest fifty by an Indian in T20Is, as well as the second-fastest century by an Indian player in the format. Abhishek’s remarkable performance not only broke multiple records but also underlined his explosive potential in the shortest format of the game. Here’s the latest list –
