India vs Australia: The India-Australia Women’s World Cup’s Sunday clash in Visakhapatnam will be remembered as one of the greatest games in the tournament’s history. Both Indian and Australian teams broke multiple records.

From individual brilliance to team milestones, the match saw records tumble as Australia chased the highest target ever in Women’s ODI history to beat India for the second time in a row.

Alyssa Healy scored a brilliant 142 off 107 balls as Australia successfully chased 331 runs, earning their third straight win in the tournament. Earlier, India had scored 330 after being sent to bat, with Smriti Mandhana hitting 80 off 66 balls and Pratika Rawal adding 75.

Smriti Mandhana reaches 5,000 WODI runs

Indian opener Smriti Mandhana continued her stunning form, scoring a fluent 80 and becoming the youngest and fastest woman to reach 5,000 runs in Women’s ODIs.

She also crossed 1,000 runs in a calendar year – the first woman ever to do so – with 1,062 runs in 18 innings. Mandhana has now scored five consecutive fifties against Australia, earning comparisons to Virat Kohli’s dominance over the same rivals in men’s cricket.

Record partnership with Pratika Rawal

Mandhana found the perfect partner in Pratika Rawal, who matched her intent and timing. Their 155-run stand was the highest opening partnership against Australia in Women’s World Cup history and the second-most century stand by an Indian pair this year.

Together, they now have six century partnerships – second only to the iconic duo of Mithali Raj and Punam Raut.

Sutherland’s birthday five-wicket haul

Australian all-rounder Annabel Sutherland celebrated her 24th birthday in spectacular fashion, claiming her first-ever five-wicket haul (5/40) and reaching 50 career wickets in WODIs.

She became the first woman to take a five-for on her birthday and just the second cricketer overall to do so in ODI history.

India posts highest-ever World Cup total

India’s total of 330 runs was their highest-ever in a Women’s World Cup match, surpassing their previous best of 317/8 against the West Indies in 2022.

Australian captain Alyssa Healy produced a batting masterclass, scoring a breathtaking 142 off 107 balls with 21 fours and three sixes. Her knock powered Australia to the highest successful chase in Women’s ODI history, beating Sri Lanka’s 302-run chase against South Africa last year.

Healy’s century also placed her alongside Karen Rolton and Meg Lanning for the most hundreds by an Australian in Women’s World Cups.

Record number of sixes

The Visakhapatnam clash was a boundary fest, featuring 13 sixes – seven by India and six by Australia – making it the most sixes ever hit in a single Women’s World Cup match.
