In his debut in the last ODI in Perth, Nitish Reddy did not have many overs to play. However, Reddy showed his game. He hit two sixers in the last over at Perth. Axar Patel is playing an innings that has sped up the score for the Indian camp. Washington Sundar was playing a good support but that could not last long. This is the third wicket from Bartlett. There’s a sudden lull in the Indian innings — and not the kind they would have wanted. Losing two set batters in quick succession has clearly dented the rhythm. Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has appealed to the team management to find a way to include left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI for the second ODI against Australia. Kuldeep, who was rested for the opening match in Perth, has been a consistent performer for India. He has taken 181 wickets in 113 ODIs at an average of 26.7, as per a report by ANI.

Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin stated that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are both champions in white-ball cricket, as reported by ANI. Both will need the right environment, support and open communication to put their best performance as they get ready for 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup. The series opener also marked the much-anticipated return of the two legendary players to competitive cricket after their Test retirements.
