The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has called an important meeting with the men’s team management in Raipur on Wednesday. The aim is to reset plans across formats and address growing problems in communication and player selection, according to a report by Sportstar.

The meeting is scheduled on the day of the second ODI between India and South Africa. It comes at a time when questions are rising about Test tactics and the relationship between management and senior players.

Who will attend the meeting?

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, head coach Gautam Gambhir and national selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar are likely to attend. It is not clear if BCCI president Mithun Manhas will join. Since the meeting is on match day, senior players are unlikely to be called in, the report mentioned.

“During the home Test season, there have been instances of confusing tactics on and off the field. We want clarity and forward planning, especially with the next Test series eight months away,” a senior BCCI official told Sportstar.

The official also admitted that recent events in Test cricket have caused concern. “During the home Test season, there have been instances of confusing tactics on and off the field. We want clarity and forward planning, especially with the next Test series eight months away,” the official added.

The discussion is not just about Tests. The official added that there is growing unease about how the management is interacting with senior limited-overs players. “India will be favourites to defend the T20 World Cup next year and strong contenders for the ODI World Cup after that, so we want these issues resolved quickly,” the official said.

Communication gaps with senior stars

No names have been mentioned officially, but reports suggest the concerns involve communication gaps with senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Since they retired from T20Is last year and stepped away from Tests earlier in 2025, there have been increasing whispers about reduced dialogue with the new management.

Overall, the Raipur meeting is being seen as a structural alignment exercise. However, confusing Test strategies, upcoming ICC events, and a cooling relationship with two of India’s cricketing greats mean the meeting’s impact will be watched closely far beyond the dressing room.
