14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi struck his fastest T20 century off 32 balls on Friday to mark a spectacular debut for the national team. Playing  for India A in the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025  group stage match against UAE, Suryavanshi opened the innings for the Indian side alongside Priyansh Arya.

Choosing to bat first, India was determined to post a solid target for UAE. Despite losing Arya’s wicket in the second over of the game, Suryavanshi went on in his business as usual with a flurry of boundaries and raced to his fifty in just 17 balls marking his fastest ever half century in T20s. The teen sensation took just another 15 balls to reach three figures.

The dynamic left-hander hit as many as 15 sixes and 11 fours in his 42-ball performance to hammer 144 at a strike rate of 342.86. He was particularly brutal against Muhammad Jawadullah and Harshit Kaushik, against whom the Indian smashed seven sixes in two overs, to take the game away from UAE.

Suryavanshi was finally dismissed for 144 in 42 balls in the 13th over as the batter appeared to threaten Tilak Varma’s record for the highest score in a T20 match by an Indian and the world record by Chris Gayle

With his stunning debut, Suryavanshi has now tied with Rishabh Pant for a joint second-fastest T20 hundred by an Indian. Pant had also hit a 32-ball hundred against Himachal Pradesh in a match of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament in 2018. The record of  fastest T20 hundred by an Indian belongs to Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma, who reached three figures in 28 balls.

After the dismissal of Suryavanshi, captain Jitesh Sharma posted an impressive unbeaten 83 to take his team to 297/4 in 20 overs. Naman Dhir also contributed with 34. The UAE team struggled to chase the mighty 298 run target. India A won the game by 148 runs. For his fantabulous performance on the field, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was awarded the player of the match.
