The new year began with a sharp hike in LPG prices — with the government raising cost for commercial cylinders by Rs 111. The change is effective from January 1 and likely to raise operating costs for restaurants and small businesses across the country. There has been no change announced for domestic LPG cylinder prices.

The updated rates were shared via the Indian Oil Corporation website on Thursday morning — indicating that prices had been raised overnight for 19-kg cylinders. According to IOCL, the price has been revised to Rs 1691.50 (up from Rs 1580.50 in December 2025) for Delhi. Prices have increased to Rs 1,795 in Kolkata and Rs 1,642.50 in Mumbai. Prices in Chennai are the steepest price among the four metros — standing at Rs 1,849.50 after the price hike.

Commercial LPG cylinder prices had remained largely unaltered over the past few months with minimal monthly fluctuations. The rates are presently at their highest since June 2025.
