2016: Union Budget for 2016-17 was presented by Arun Jaitley in the Parliament today. After announcing a hike in excise duty for tobacco products and various other reforms in the private sector, FM Jaitley announced no change in income tax slabs.
No sooner did the Budget speech get over, that various responses started to pour in. While Shashi Tharoor believes that this year’s Budget was a old wine being sold in a new bottle, Lalu Prasad Yadav is disappointed by the lack reforms in the agriculture sector. Nitish Kumar also believes that nothing concrete has been introduced for the farmers in the Budget this year.
