Oil prices reached their highest levels since October on Monday as investors are focused on global fuel demand, Beijing economic stimulus and cold weather conditions in the Northern Hemisphere. As per latest report, Brent crude was up by 15 cents to $76.66 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude climbed 22 cents at $74.18 a barrel. Goldman Sachs has predicted a decline in Iran’s oil production and exports because of anticipated policy changes and sanctions from the incoming US administration. This could lead to a reduction of around 300,000 barrels per day to 3>25 million bpd by second quarter, as reported by Reuters.
According to Mohammed Imran, – Research Analyst, Mirae Asset Sharekhan, ”We expect crude to test the resistance at $75 hence we advise selling into rallies and prices could test support of $70 in coming session. The demand side still remain weak as global factory activities have eased down in December.”
